Rainbow District School Board to offer new credits at schools this summer

SUDBURY—Rainbow District School Board (RDSB) will offer opportunities for students to earn new credits towards their Ontario Secondary School diploma this summer, including Summer School Co-operative Education, e-Learning and the Ontario Secondary School Literacy Course (OSSLC).

Summer co-operative education students can obtain one, two or three new Co-operative Education credits.

In-person co-op credits will be available in July and August for students who require a placement and for students who already have a paid or unpaid placement where the employer has agreed to monitor.

Students are asked to contact their school guidance counsellor to discuss options if they already have or need a co-op placement for the summer.

Students wishing to obtain one or two credits must register for the session that runs from Monday, July 4 to Wednesday, August 3.

Students wishing to obtain an additional credit must register for the session that runs from Monday, August 8 to Friday, August 26.

Students registering for summer co-op must include a credit counselling summary from their current schools that the proper co-op course codes can be applied. Students are responsible for providing their own transportation to their placements.

Secondary students can obtain one new Grade 11 or 12 credit in English through the Summer e-Learning Program. Grade 10 civics and careers courses are also available.

The course will run from Monday, July 4 to Wednesday, August 3. Students will require a reliable computer with internet access to enroll in the Summer e-Learning Program.

Students must register no later than Friday, June 17 with a guidance counsellor at their home school.

Courses will run subject to sufficient enrollment and teacher availability.

The Ontario Secondary School Literacy Course (OSSLC) is being offered as a new credit course through e-learning for students in Rainbow schools.

The OSSLC course will run from Monday, July 4 to Wednesday, August 3.

Students will need reliable computer and internet access to enroll in the OSSLC.

Students must register no later than Friday, June 17 with a guidance counsellor at their home school.

The courses will run subject to sufficient enrollment and teacher availability.
