SILVER WATER—Chris Lewis, an MP for Essex, Ontario recognized the long service of many of the Robinson Township Volunteer Fire Department members recently.

“On June 11, the fire department received a visit from Chris Lewis, MP for Essex, Ontario,” said Doug Wismer, Robinson fire chief. “Mr. Lewis has a property on Walkhouse Road in Robinson township and as a former firefighter, has great admiration for firefighters in small communities such as ours.”

The Essex MP had been talking to one of the Robinson firefighters and found out that Mr. Wismer will be retiring soon from the fire team. Mr. Wismer and firefighter Ken Duncanson are original members of the Robinson fire department when it started 44 years ago.

Mr. Lewis brought with him certificates of congratulations for years of service to the firefighters on hand for training the evening of his visit. Presentations were also made to Mr. Wismer, Tom Rumley and fire captains Gerard Binsfield and Eric Thiessen.

Also included was a letter of congratulation on behalf of the federal government to Murray and Gladys Duncanson on their recent 60th wedding anniversary. Murray Duncanson is also a firefighter.
