CAMERON THEODORE SPEC

OCTOBER 19, 1921 – MAY 26, 2024

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Cameron Theodore Spec on May 26, 2024 at the age of 102. He is predeceased by parents Gertrude and Howard Spec; his sister Audrey McKenzie (Gordon) and brother Robert Spec (Ruth). He is predceased by wives Viola of 49 years and Jeanne of 7 years as well as son Craig (Ola). He will be sadly missed by Yvonne Jacques
partner of  20 years. Always remembered by daughter Kathy (Richard) and son Howard (Margaret). He will be missed by his grandchildren Stefan, Justin, Jennifer, Lora, Amanda, Sarah and  Kayla along with his great-grandchildren Cameron, Seth, Max, Stevana, Ignatius, Viola and Eleanor. Cam was born in the Canadian Pacific Railway (CPR) station house in Eau Claire, Ontario. In 1950 he took a position at the CPR “coal dock” and he spent 40 years working with them in Little Current where he resided for 65 years before moving to the Ottawa area. During Cam’s years in Little Current he served his community well, holding several positions on local boards including; the Rainbow District  School  Board, the 91Ϣ Centennial Manor, the 91Ϣ Health Centre and the 91Ϣ Business Assistance Corporation (LAMBAC). After Cam retired from the CPR, he was the proprietor along with wife  Viola, of Island  Florist. They also earned real estate licences and were agents of Lewis Runnalls and later James Bousquet. Cam was an avid curler and spent many happy hours at this sport (and the clubhouse) especially  enjoying the many bonspiels he played in. He was a sought out player until retiring from playing at the age of 95. He also enjoyed gardening and his vegetable garden produce enhanced many delicious meals over the years. He loved to socialize and anywhere he went he made friends easily. He built the family cottage from the ground up and it continues to be testimony to his love of family and friends.  We will all truly miss our father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend. He was an inspiration to all and a truly kind and outgoing man. May he rest easy as his journey has been long.  Cremation has already taken place and an interment service at Holy Trinity Cemetery along with a Celebration of Cam’s Life, will be held on a future date to be announced.
